Speechless Nino

The performance is inspired by Disney’s characters and exploration of their world, as well as the values, gender roles and stereotypes that these characters shape. Young actors and co-authors had the full freedom to bring their own visions, comments and interpretations of this initial theme, and through the process of acting improvisation, they have put into relationships characters that do not meet in their original storylines. Also, they imagined the encounter of the same characters encountering themselves at different moments of the story and after its completion. This imaginary world of fable characters has been linked with the present through the characters of three teenagers that differ from each other, and who come together by a set of circumstances and mere chance.

In addition to young actors and co-authors, participants of the regular education program KRILA, participants of the show were also students of the Rijeka School of Science and Graphics, who worked in conjunction with their mentors and, therefore designed and created video projections, which are an important visual and dramatic element of the play. The props were done by students of the third year of the Teacher’s study at the Faculty of Teacher Education of the University of Rijeka, within the elective course of Extracurricular Visual Arts activity held by Dr. sc. Zlata Tomljenović, postdoctoral for the theory of visual arts, and their mentor.
