IN THE EMPIRE OF THE ICY MUSEUM

Final Production play of the School Year 2016/17;
Contemporary theatre for children and youth
June 09, 2016. , Croatian Cultural Home in Sušak, Rijeka.

The performance is inspired by the Sculpture exhibition visit – a sculpture selection from the collection of The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rijeka. Through the exhibition experience, the children improvised the movement, voice and the storyline/narrative bits and pieces, all the while choosing their favorite sculpture of the exhibition. Trough improvisation children constructed and revealed characters, situations, choreographic and dramatic material. The authors then gradually linked individual elements into a completed play and supplemented it with new ideas. In the show, we meet a little girl who comes from a place called The Pleasant Land and soldiers who come from The Unpleasant Land. Through the story of the soldiers from The Unpleasant Land, we discover the young girl’s homeland, from which the girl sets off in order to save her friends, taken by the evil wizard hailing from The Unpleasant Land, aided in her quest by the ancient magical tree in homeland woods. The girl passes through a magical mirror, a series of fields and encounters different characters, finally getting to the Cryogenic Museum owned by the evil Emperor and the Empress of The Unpleasant Land, where the secret of the girl’s friends disappearance is hidden.

A presentation/play by students of Contemporary theater for children from 7 to 11.
