Young Creators and Professional Artists; December 17th and 18th, 2011
On Saturday 17th from 10 am to 5 pm, on Sunday 18th from 9 am to 4 pm
In this workshop, we will explore how to use body articulation combined with the use of different objects. The mission of this workshop is the projection of our inner lives by making the invisible areas, our feelings, visible in physical activity through the integration of ordinary everyday subjects.
Also, we will focus on the performance of the scene pieces/ethos/forms from the mime repertoire. This represents a significant physical challenge to the participants, but this will also stimulate their imagination.
WE WILL FAMILIARIZE AND SCRUTINIZE:
- different aspects of the movement such as mobility, design, and posture.
- sense of space using space, orientation and geometry as well as the metaphorical use of space on the scene.
- body articulation and the use of dynamics and rhythm that will enable us to clearly “fracture the movement”.
- work with the veil to relieve body expression.
- the scene causality and focus on the individual, duet and group performances of our performers.
- reverse metaphors and the use of props as dramatic extensions of the body.
The Dramatic Corporate Mime is a theatrical expression that has evolved thanks to the Etienne Decroux. Etienne was the first who started exploring it and then dedicated his whole life (1898-1991) od developing it. Today we have a clear corporate technique that enables the understanding of actors body and scenic space and that includes concepts from different art fields such as architecture, music, painting, and sculpture.
This approach puts the actor’s physicality into the center of theatrical creation before anything else, increasing its performance physical ability. Above everything else, methods and techniques of Dramatic Corporate Mime will give to the artist the independence from all other dramaturgy elements that do not belong to the body.
Workshop price is 200,00 kn. Registration at info@krila.org or 091 579 35 95. Participants of the regular education program KRILA have a 25% discount.
What did the participants say about the workshop Body in space, space in the body (Rijeka, October 2011.)
“It’s great that the workshop is not just about the movements and exercises that need to be adopted or tasks related to them, but it’s about the whole philosophy of the movement of the human body and what triggers the body on stage and in life!”
“Jorge is very amusing, and somehow everything runs relaxed, even when the body needs to be tense.”
“From the basic things that are always well remembered, many new and extremely interesting things from the stage movement have been taught … the workshop is excellent, Jorge is an expert from who we can learn a lot … thank you and see you next time …”
“… It was very creative, useful and inspiring!”
“I liked everything, I think we’ve gone through a lot of different things we can use and explore in the future. I liked how different elements eventually merge!”
