It is an exploration of the boundary between conceptual contemporary dance and physical theater. How much can a body be poetic—or not? How can pop culture engage in dialogue with conceptual art? Through the meeting and fusion of two different worlds, an authentic, somatic, raw language emerges, with a touch of sarcasm. The exchange between the two authors/dancers develops the need to express, through performance, the challenges of being an artist today. How can we break free from the models and stereotypes imposed on us daily in contemporary art? The project’s goal is to shed light on the issues affecting our present artistic and cultural landscape, to laugh at clichés, and to satirize the “dramas” of our field.

This workshop explores how gentle movements of our body can influence and lead the body of a dance partner. Through conscious breathing, stretching, and developing attention to oneself and another, we learn how to build trust and subtle communication through movement. Through the play of leading and surrendering, we discover new ways to move together in space – without forcing, with gentleness and presence. These practices have been woven into the very performance, and participants will later recognize traces of these principles in the way bodies meet and influence each other on stage.
